COMMUNITY Work
Paterson Habitat for Humanity
With the recognition that safe and healthy homes alone will not create safe and healthy communities, Paterson Habitat for Humanity (PHFH) is accelerating its neighborhood revitalization efforts by expanding its scope to include the health impacts of lead exposure and advocacy on this issue. PHFH will implement strategies to increase community understanding of the health threats posed by lead poisoning, including but not limited to: distribution of educational materials, social media engagement, and community education forums.
PHFH will work with local and county health departments to increase screening of lead blood levels in Paterson communities. The organization will form a local Steering Committee to guide local education and advocacy efforts.
